Jim Barth, J.D, M.B.A.

Jim Barth, JD, MBA

Jim first came to Utah in 1991, when his wife Nancy entered the University of Utah in pursuit of a doctorate degree in business management. They fully expected their stay in Utah to end after a few years, but quickly discovered the exceptional beauty and wonderful people in the area, and decided to settle in Park City. They are now raising a family and intend on staying in Park City forever.

A native of Palos Verdes, CA, Jim received his bachelor's degree in real estate finance and holds graduate degrees in law and business from the University of San Diego. His career in real estate began in 1982, and he has since attained a very broad professional background, including brokerage, finance, law and development. Prior to law school, Jim worked with Charterhouse Investment Company, where he was involved in structuring real estate joint ventures as an exclusive representative for some of the nation's premier lenders.

Upon arriving in Park City, Jim spent several years with the Prudential Coleman Real Estate, as Director of the Coleman Consulting Group, which specialized in entitlement, pre-development and brokerage-related matters for real estate projects located throughout the Intermountain West. From 1994 to 2001, Jim was a partner in the law firm David W. Johnson and Assoc. of Park City, specializing in transactional real estate matters, including representation of some of the areas most prominent property owners and real estate interests.

Jim's background in real-estate law enables him to better negotiate through the real-estate process, as well as assist in structuring transactions to protect his clients' interests.

In 2001 Jim joined Prudential Utah Real Estate as the firm's General Counsel, and very quickly realized that the lifestyle offered by the brokerage side of the business was much more appealing to him than that of legal counsel. He transitioned to a full-time Realtor and has never looked back! During his first year selling resort investment real estate, Jim was honored by the Park City Board of Realtors with the "Rookie of the Year" award, as well as the "Professional Achievement Award." He was also presented with Prudential's "Rookie of the Year" award. Jim received these awards not only for his outstanding achievement in real estate sales and service, but more importantly to Jim, for his high regard for the ethics of his profession.

Jim is now the Managing Broker of the Keller Williams Park City Resort Investment Group with offices located at 312 Main Street in Historic Old Town. Founded in 1983, Keller Williams is an international real estate company with more than 600 offices located across the United States and Canada. Jim's decision to associate with Keller Williams was grounded in the firm's education based philosophy and their absolute commitment for high ethical standards, which have become the new benchmark for the industry.

Jim is extremely active in community affairs. He has served for over a decade on the Park City Planning Commission, being honored to chair the commission for two terms. Additionally, Jim has served on the Summit County Planning Commission and was Chairman of the Summit County Water Concurrency Board. In particular, Jim's community service helps to keep him on the forefront of new developments and related topics, which in turn allows him to keep his clients exceptionally well informed. Jim and Nancy are also active volunteers in the Park City School District among other organizations.

Jim enjoys golf, hiking, Alpine and Nordic skiing, and recreating with his two sons, Jason and Charlie. He and Nancy cherish the incredible mountain lifestyle and fabulous activities offered in Park City.
